Sherwood Chourou - Week 16 in Japan

Konnichiwa!

Things still feel a little slow going right now, but we got a new shinyuu and had grilled cheeses and a salad with Fun san. Yesterday we went to an Octoberfest thing (in August?), saw some kids karate kick baseball bats in half, and played basketball with some other kids. This week, we're having a mission conference with Elder Soares, which will probably be fun.

Sorry, I don't have much else to talk about, but I'll send a pic of our fruits basket now and some videos of the Octoberfest thing (next pday after I find out how) as compensation. Hope everyone has a good week! Matte ne!

Sherwood Chourou - Weed 15 in Japan

Konnichiwa!

We had a pretty good week this week. Burton chourou went home so Richards chourou and I are a two-o now. Last Saturday, we got a potential shinyuu who gave us many taffys and some pez. After that, we met 3 nice old ladies in a row. It was pretty great.

Yesterday, we met a Buddhist grandma who tried to teach us about Buddhism but failed because we don't understand Japanese. It was curious. There were also billions of dragonflies flying around, which was pretty wild. There may be a dragonfly migration or something, I don't know.

Story time: This actually happened a month or so ago, but apparently I didn't mention it. Burton chourou and I were walking home when we met a guy on the street. Very early in the conversation, he said he was an undercover cop (kinda blew your cover there, buddy), which kinda freaked us out in a "did we accidentally break a law?" kind of way. It turned out he was just warning us that there may have been a thief in the area, which I may as well note is an impressive rarity in Japan. But yeah, that was interesting.

Anyways, that's all I've got. I'm including a photo of the candies we got and some photos from around town (because I still need to do that). Enjoy, and have a good week! Matte ne!

Sherwood Chourou - Week 14 in Japan

Konnichiwa!

It's been a pretty good week over here. Unfortunately, Fun didn't get baptized like we hoped, but we're continuing to meet with him an are trying to shoot for a later date. In the meantime, we got 2 new shinyuu whom we had the privilege to eat omurice (omlette rice) with for lunch today! They seem fairly interested, so we have high hopes for them.

Last pday, after I sent the email, we did a hike up a nearby hill and the observation tower thereon. It was cool, and we took a couple pictures. When we were taking the picture of all 3 of us, Burton chourou had to run around the tower to get to us, so we got 1 picture without him and 1 with him in perfect position! That was amazing.

Today we're having district pday, for which it was decided that I would run a game of dungeons and dragons. I never would have thought that my knowledge of that game would be of use to me on my mission, but it seems the mission field is full of surprises. It was difficult, but I was able to cram some gospel messages into the puzzles. Hope they get across.

I guess that's it for this week. Once again, I hope everyone's well, and enjoy the photos! Matte ne!

Sherwood Chourou - Week 13 in Japan

Konnichiwa once again!

So I'm still in Iwamizawa and I'm still companions with Burton chourou, so not much has changed. Except now we're a trio! We have recently been joined by Richards chourou, who will be serving as the new senior companion for when Burton chourou dies in 2 weeks. Fun stuff!

As for our shinyuu, Fun san is fast approaching his baptismal date this Saturday and things seem to be going well! Hibiki kun seems like he's starting to get a testimony of the church, and we're betting that when we invite him to be baptized, he'll say yes. Koshiyama san seems to be doing alright, but we think she needs a bit of time to think about/work out some stuff (I'm not sure what but okay) so we'll be visiting her next week. So yeah, nice!

Anyways, not much of note happened this week, but I took some photos of some stuff we saw. Enjoy, and I hope you all have a good week! Matte ne!

Photos:
-We found an awesome balloon setup that had Dorys and Nemos.
-An eikaiwa drawing got out of hand.
-I couldn't do the sunset justice, but I tried.
-Haven't you heard? Senkyoshi multiply. Also we got lots of food from the members.

Sherwood Chourou - Week 38 in Japan

Konnichiwa! We are back to the slowish days once more. We've been dendoing and teaching plenty, but nothing outstanding has arisen ...
